Cancer Registry
Our Cancer Program has been accredited as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) since 1990. We are proud to have received full accreditation with commendation with our most recent survey. In 2010, Central Baptist received 3-year full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) – the first hospital in Lexington and the first community hospital in Kentucky to receive this distinction. The Cancer Registry is an important part of our successful cancer program.
The Cancer Registry collects, analyzes, and maintains current information on all patients diagnosed with and/or treated for cancer. Cancer registries are required by law for every provider in the United States.

Cancer registrars are data experts who:
- Collect timely, accurate, and complete cancer data
- Maintain data within an institution
- Enter the data into a computer database
- Report information as required by law including demographics, incidence, staging, treatment, and outcomes
- Update cancer registry information regularly. Follow-up is required each year for every patient in the cancer registry database and may be obtained through medical records or personal contact by letter or phone.
